Ukiyo in Gluttony for 2024

February 16, 2024

Ukiyo

The word ‘Ukiyo’ is Japanese, meaning ‘The Floating World’, in reference to the collective pleasure-seeking quarters of urban Edo (modern day Tokyo), which thrived during a time of never before known peace and prosperity. During this period culture flourished and the common people could enjoy theatre, music, dance… and some less virtuous forms of entertainment, perhaps. Experience and appreciate the transient, fleeting beauty of life in our own floating world, the lavish Ukiyo tent.

“The Ukiyo is a superbly versatile venue, and one of our most popular for both artists and audiences. It has plenty of height for ground based and aerial acts, and a great intimate feel even with a well-sized central and rear performance area. It’s brilliant for both family and adult shows too. One of our favourites!” - Cat Cohen, Production Manager at Gluttony
